The 1st Pan-Cinema Experimental – Curitiba International Film Festival emerges as a new window that brings to the public the best within contemporary experimental film production around the world. In this first edition, the festival will focus on Indian experimental cinema and the exhibition “Focus: India Imperceptible – い“, made under the curatorship of Raju Roychowdhury, presenting experimental short films by contemporary Indian artists and a special selection of works by filmmaker Ashish Avikunthak, unpublished in Brazil.
The festival will also feature special film shows selected by guest curators. Duo Strangloscospe, formed by artists Cláudia Cárdenas and Rafael Schlichting, from Florianópolis, makes a selection of contemporary international experimental films. Lucas Murari, artistic director of Dobra – Rio de Janeiro’s International Experimental Film Festival, presents works by Brazilian filmmakers. Another show, which will be designed exclusively in Super 8mm is organized by Tetsuya Maruyama, experimental artist from Yokohama, Japan. Special international sessions and shows of the films of the call are presented by the curatorship of Lígia Teixeira and Francisco Benvenuto.
Nesta primeira edição o Pan-Cinema – Festival Internacional de Cinema Experimental de Curitiba trás ao público oficinas voltadas às experimentações no cinema analógico e masterclasses que tratem de temas relevantes dentro do pensamento do cinema experimental.
Este ano serão duas oficinas de 16mm, e duas masterclasses, com destaque para a “História da Experimentação no Cinema Indiano”, oferecida pelo diretor indiano Ashish Avikunthak que estará presente pela primeira vez no Brasil mostrando seus filmes e ministrando uma aula exclusiva em Curitiba.
